Well my friends and well-wishers, I'm afraid that, do to a long list of unfortunate, unforeseen, undesirable, unsettling, unceremonious - alright I'm done - circumstances, Krunal and I had to cancel our planned Smash Brothers: Melee tournament. We had a good thing going, but we've had some difficult finding keeping in touch with our host. Also, we were never able to devise a way to sell tickets on campus without Krunal or I actually being in Anaheim. So, it is with great disappointment, sadness, and whatnot that Krunal and I have resigned to cancel the Smash Brothers: Melee tournament.

We might give it a shot again some other time, but, for now, the CGC Smash Brothers: Melee Tournament is off the books, I'm afraid.

Also, if any of my four sponsors are reading this, do not be alarmed, I'll send you a refund.

But If You Guess Correctly...

Alright, it's the question on everyone's mind: "what do I win?" And I'm glad you asked!

We have prizes for third and second place, and a cash prize for first place. Read on for details.

Third Place Prize:

Third place prize will be a t-shirt from our shop (more info on that when our shop is up and running).

Second Place Prize:

Second prize will receive a set of books including the following:

  • 9th Elsewhere volume 1 (autographed by Caroline Curtis).
  • Empty Words volume 1 (autographed by Benjamin Rivers).
  • Misfile volume 1 (autographed by Chris Hazelton).
  • StarCross'd Destiny volume 1 (autographed by Blair B).
  • And hopefully more as time goes by (please feel free to contact us if you're a webcomic artist interested in adding your book to the set).
The Big Payoff!

Well the winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize that will start at $200, but will increase steadily as participation increases.

Every participant pays a $15 entry fee (or a $12 entry fee if they order tickets early; see the registration page for more info). $2 of every ticket sold after 100 is added to the pot, and the remainder of which goes to support the tournament.

The prize is $200 + ($2 x #of participants over 100).

So...

If 200 people participate, the prize is $400.

If 500 people participate, the prize is $1000.

If 1,000 people participate, the prize is $2,000.

If 10,000 people participate, the prize is $20,000.

If 1,000,000 people participate ...well at that point I'd get in trouble for blowing past the place's maximum capacity, but nevertheless the prize would be $2,000,000.

And so on and so forth. So, for those of you who are planning on entering, do yourself a favor and spread the word! Make this tournament as popular as possible, and help boost up your prize money!
